Arizona Weather

Today’s post is short and sweet. Arizona may be hell on earth some days during the summer but on occasional evenings (like today) a cool breeze blows through and makes Arizona evenings amazing. We have hot summers, gorgeous fall time and incredible winters. Who cares if it’s 112 degrees out for two to three months out of the year? Not me! Love my Arizona weather!

Iron Man 3

Ok so I have read and heard mixed reviews from friends to online critics about the new Iron Man 3 movie. Personally I loved the movie but the main reason I love it is because I love Robert Downey Jr. so I’m kind of biased. But when I think about the movie as a whole: story, plot and characters –  there are things that were both good and bad.

Obviously Robert Downey Jr. and Gweneth Paltrow were awesome and so were the other actors. The only issue I had with the movie was the story behind the bad guy. First off the character that played “The Mandarin” was good after you figure out in the end that he is kind of a goof but originally when I thought he is this big bad mandarin guy I thought he was ridiculous. He was so funny when Tony first found him in that mansion and he was trying to figure out how the heck this idiotic guy threatened him, killed a man live on tv and somehow hacked the presidents cell. I love a little comedy in an action film.  Although in the beginning his accent really bugged me while he was playing the “bad” mandarin and I couldn’t figure out why.

Later we realize that he has a British accent and was doing an American accent so maybe that’s what bugged me about it but who knows. And I also didn’t like the whole story about how this guy is the face of evil while this other turns out to be the real bad guy is manipulating individuals DNA into living bombs. I just didn’t really care too much for that. But that was pretty much the only negative thing I have to say. Everything else was amazing, all the action scenes killed it and in the end when he has all these Iron Men flying around taking the bad guys out was probably the best scene. It was cool to see all the variations in the Iron Men suits. Overall? I loved it but then again I’m not hard to please when it comes to a Marvel movie.

Sunglasses: Fair Frames or Swanky Specs

So while visiting family in Texas I had a discussion with my younger cousin about purchasing sunglasses since he works at Sunglasses Hut. Obviously, he receives discounts on his purchases so his decision between cheap some of his family with nice sunglasses. Me on the other hand? Cheap, frugal and inexpensive frames is all I buy.  One day we were out shopping and I went to a store and purchased two sunglasses for a whopping $10! One heck of a deal if you ask me.

This is one of the two pairs I bought for $10. They are really cute and even had a cool design on the side and sits lower than normal legs on frames which adds a unique flare that I really like. So yeah these are cute sunglasses for $5!

Cheap frames are my life and I refuse to spend more than $10 on any single pair of sunglasses. I am very rough on them, hence why I spend so little. They get thrown in my purse, sit on top of my head (and occasionally fall off) and have even been known to hang out on the dashboard in my car (in the extremely hot and ever-penetrating Arizona sun). I guess I just don’t have the patience to open my bottomless pit of a bag to find the case and then put them in. This should take probably no more than two minutes but most of the time transitioning from inside to outside is quick and I’m usually in a hurry. I’m not late or anything that’s just how I function; thanks to four years of college on a huge campus walking from class to class with only 15 minutes to spare forces you to have a quick walking pace. My husband constantly tells me to slow down and that we aren’t running a race.

I do know other people like my sister, mom and husband that have nice frames. My mom and sister have Maui Jim sunglasses and my husband has Spy Optics and they all carry their cases and always put them away once they are done wearing them. I just stare at them in amazement. They are consistent and their ability to take care of those sunglasses never fails.

You want to know what the crazy thing is? The less care I take of my sunglasses the longer they last and better they look. Once I start taking precautions and caring about them is when they break, get scratched or get lost. I don’t even go through that many, I have pairs that have lasted years and the only reason I buy more is because I like different colors and styles. After many years I have learned that the best style for my face is those large bug eye glasses. I have tried a few different styles like aviator or wayfarer and I look so ridiculous! No matter what I do or how they look, I always end up looking like a goob. So needless to say I stick to bigger frames. Big and cheap is my motto for frame shopping.

So in conclusion my name is Kristina and I LOVE cheap sunglasses and nothing can ever change that! Boo ya!

Working Out for the Weak

Ok so yesterday my husband and I started the Insanity workout by beach body. I know what you’re thinking, “Why would you do that?!” It looks extremely intimidating on the infomercial and why would anyone put themselves through that. Well I really want to get into shape. I am not over weight and (not trying to toot my own horn) have a pretty nice body (no matter how you phrase that it still sounds vein lol). I decided to do this because I can’t afford to go to the gym and I want something that burns calories and allows me to stay in my house because running outside alone is boring. I also love that the DVDs are only 45 minutes. You can get a great workout in your day and it takes less than an hour.

Yesterday we did day 1 out of 60. I’m going to try and update my blog everyday for personal reasons like seeing my own improvement and so I can tell you how well it works or if its worth trying. So if you have seen the commercials then just follow my blog and I’ll keep you updated. I read some reviews about it and there were people who loved it and there were those who hated it. I’m sure a lot of it depends on your attitude and results. Results are not just based on exercise, you have to take your eating habits into account. I have altered my diet as well. I am cutting out sugar, dairy and processed/junk food. I also use the My Fitness Pal app on my iPhone which is amazing! It allows you to keep track of what you eat and your workouts. It even has a scanner so you can just scan the barcode and it automatically adds it. HUGE time saver!

Day One:

Our first workout was insane! Ironic? I think not. It was one of the most intense workouts I’ve done. What really makes it difficult is that it has a lot of cardio and cardio definitely is not my forte. I also can’t do a push up to save my life. I haven’t sweat that much in a while and almost collapsed at the end of the workout. I did enjoy the stretches after the workout because since your muscles are loose and warm it makes the stretch deeper and more relaxing. I am a little sore today but I love being sore because I feel like I actually did something.

Overall I really liked the workout. It was challenging, fun and shook things up. The first DVD was only 40 minutes which was really nice. So day 1 was a success!

Go me!

Pianos – The Ultimate Headache Giver

When I was younger I used to take piano lessons, I hated them. I was really into sports and that is totally what I wanted to do when I was younger but due to a knee injury I was unable to play them. So in order to help me out my mom told me I could do anything else and what popped into my head? Piano lessons. When I first started them I really liked playing the piano and had a good time. However my teacher was not the friendliest person and made my lessons terribly boring and absolutely unbearable. My mom would not let me quit no matter how much I begged or how little I practiced. A couple years later she finally let me quit and I was able to participate in sports so that was pretty awesome. However now that I’m older I kind of wish that I had kept with it because it is beautiful talent.

Now I am writing this post with the sole purpose of venting. I am here at work right now and our theatre was rented out as a showroom for a piano seller. There was about 30 pianos in here and one piano tuner. I don’t know if you have heard a person tune a piano but essentially all they do is start on one end and hit the same key at least 50 times until it sounds just right. Then they move on to the next one and since there are many, many pianos they have been doing this for a VERY long time. I have a terrible headache and really want to pop that piano tuner in the face.

I am a pretty nice person and don’t let many things bother me but tuning a piano is definitely on my list of super annoying things. Thankfully the person either finished tuning pianos for today or had something else to do because now there is nothing but the sound of mindless chatter and upbeat music. Thank God. You truly appreciate the sounds of everyday noise once something exceptionally annoying interrupts your day.

Good day.

The Power of a Purse

Today I learned the impact of a gift and not just any gift but a new purse. For some people this may seem kind of silly but when someone else takes time to think of you it drastically changes your day. Whether it’s something small like a card or something a little more expensive. It is very true when people say that it’s the thought that counts.

The purse that I have is a Kenneth Cole Reaction Tote Alone bag and I LOVE it. If you want to buy this bag or see what other purses they have then click here. Below is a picture of my new bag and I so check it out. I love the print but I also love it because it has the two separate handles to hold. The longer one so it can hang off your body or the shorter one so it can hang off your shoulder.

Now my husband tells me all the time that I have too many purses but this is a foreign concept to me. I don’t quite understand the concept of “too many”. I guess it is the same way he feels about sports. He doesn’t understand why I don’t get into them and why I can’t watch them for hours and hours. Oh well, to each his own. But let me get back to my purses; I probably have about 50 different bags in my closet right now. They vary from totes to backpacks to satchels and the list could go on but I won’t bore you with every single type.

I visited this other blog to check out what is in season for this fall in the purse category. Click here to check out purse blog. I am more excited about the new shapes and styles that are coming out versus the print. I am pretty open to a wide variety of colors and patterns and what matters most to me is shape. I love big bags and small ones and what I am in need of is a small over the shoulder bag for this fall. That is probably the one type of bag I don’t have so if you have any cute ones in mind then put the link below in the comment line!

I’m going to leave you with these questions:

Comment Below and have a nice day!

Wednesday Training Session

So today we had a new employee at the Arizona Broadway Theatre in the Box Office and it was my job to train her. I have trained new co-workers before but it was in a retail setting which is a little easier than selling tickets. The reason there is more difficulty in selling tickets versus selling clothes is that when using the register at a retailer all you have to do is put in the clothes and then put in the payment.  However, when you are selling tickets the patrons have to pick a day, a seat and whether they want dinner and show or the show only and if you do not have the seat they want on the day they want it then that’s when it gets really complicated because people are very particular when it comes to their musicals.

The program we use is a good one but there are so many screens, buttons and things you have to do before you can even go to the purchase ticket screen. The lady I have been training is a really good worker and is trying her best which is helpful for the trainer and makes my job a lot easier. The eager are always easier to train versus the uninterested. I love how training someone else is also a learning session for you as well. I have learned how much I rely on my fellow box office associates to do their job correctly and learned to use a little more patience when working with new individuals. I already knew that patience was a necessity when it came to training but I forgot how much was required. It also reminded my of my first day here and how terrified I was when I had to answer the phone and this is something that has helped me become better at training others. That feeling of being lost, unable to do things on your own and dealing with customers that expect perfection is overwhelming and being able to remember that feeling helps you sympathize and understand how to help them even more.

Things that I wanted people to say when I was training is things that I will say to those I train. Things like, “It’s Ok”, “You’ll get it”, “Keep trying” are all reassuring phrases that helps you maintain equanimity and makes them feel like you care and they can do better. I am learning to take everyday experiences and turn them into life lessons and this is why I wanted to start a blog. You never think about these instances or try to learn from them until you write them out and make a conscious effort to do so. I have a feeling I am going to learn a lot in the future to come.

Hello World

Hello everyone! This is my first post on my blog. This blog is dedicated to everyday living whether it be business or leisure. I want this to be a fun and informational blog that you really enjoy reading. So thanks for following!

Let me introduce myself: I graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Marketing and a Minor in Special Event Management. I left college debt free thanks to scholarships and a college fund from my parents. It is such an amazing feeling leaving school and not having to worry about school loans. I also love to read. I own a kindle which has allowed me to read more and a wider variety. I love to workout and be active. My husband is getting a B.S. in Exercise Science which is nice so I can have my own personal trainer.

I am a huge animal lover; I have a dog and a cockatiel. Someday soon I plan on adopting from the Arizona Humane Society and expanding my little family.

Well that’s all I can think of right now. Have a good day!
